Animal Chaplain Ministry
This is an InterFaith Ministry that offers
compassion, empathy, comfort and kindness to pets
and their Human Families during times of loss,
sickness, transition and grief
Blessings For Pets--Prayer Services----Last
Rites---Funeral/Memorial Services---Grief
Counseling for the Humans left behind.

As an Ordained Minister I have often dealt with
pain and sorrow in Humans. I have lent my should
to cry on and prayed for and blessed those in the
hospitals  and nursing homes.
Many people have had pets who asked me to say a
prayer for them when the pet was ill and who have
worried over what would happen to their faithful
companions when they themselves crossed into the
World of Spirit. I, too, have always had pets, dogs,
cats and birds, who were as important to me as my
human family, for where else can one find such
unconditional love, such faithfulness, such gratitude
for even a morsel of bread from your hands, such joy
in their hearts as they greet you at the end of a day's
work?  Humans, no matter how much they love
you, will often let you down and desert you in your
hour of need. Your pets will not. Particularly your
dog. And Dog is God spelled backward to remind
us of the faithfulness and love of God.
Animals were given to us to care for but many are
abused and mistreated. They are often killed for
sport And those that love animals feel their pain.
So, many dedicated people are now becoming
Animal Chaplains, to bless the pets, to honor their
lives, to be with them in illness and as they make
their transitions
I am honoured to add this title to my own Ministry,
to  be able to give back a little of the joy I have
received from my own pets over the years, dogs, cats,
birds, fish, etc. I loved them all and they are sorely
missed..
There are many beautiful web sites that are
dedicated solely to this wonderful ministry. They all
express my own feelings about animals, whether or
not they have souls  (the Bible says they do!) and if
they go to Heaven, and will we ever see them again.
So instead of trying to put it all again on my site, I
will just give the links to some of my favorite ones
that   give profound thoughts on this ministry. And
I will include  some poetry and readings that have
touched my heart.

The more people I meet the more I like my dog

No matter how little money and how few
possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.
                                     Louis Sabin

Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the
center of their Universe----the focus of their love
and faith and trust. They serve us in return for
scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal Man has
ever made.                                          Roger Caras

You think dogs will not be in Heaven? I tell you,
They will be there long before any of us will.

   A Dog's Soul

Every dog must have a soul somewhere deep inside,
Where all his hurts and grievances are buried with
his pride.
Where he decides the good and bad, the wrong way
from the right,
And where his judgement carefully is hidden from
our sight.
A dog must have a secret place where every thought
abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that he trusts in and
confides.
And when accused unjustly, for himself he cannot
speak,
Rebuked, he finds within his soul, the comfort he
must seek.
He'll love though he is unloved and he'll serve
though badly used.
And any kind word will wipe away the tears when
he's abused.
Although his heart may break into, his love will
still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog an understanding
soul.

Lord,You have called my heart to serve all
Creation.
Grant that as I work to serve in this capacity for
which I am called,
that I am filled with compassion, that I am filled
with empathy,
that I am filled with understanding, that I am filled
with charity
that I am filled with a generous heart, that I am
filled with selflessness,
that I am filled with caring, that I am filled with
tolerance,
that I am filled with ability to comfort, that I am
filled with wisdom,
that I am filled with humility, that I remain your
humble servant,
that I am filled with calmness and peace, that I am
filled with Your Grace and Love.
Above all else as I serve You through serving
your creatures, including their human families---
Grant that I see you reflected in the eyes of all
creatures,
great and small, and that I never forget
that it is Your Love alone that is beating in all
hearts.
                                                     Amen.

Prayer For The Animals

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends,
the animals. Especially for animals who are
suffering, for any that are hunted, or lost or deserted
or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to
death.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity; and
for those who deal with them, we ask a heart of
compassion and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals
and so to share the blessings of the merciful
