CommittmentCeremonies
For Gay.LesbianC ouples

You may call it a wedding, a commitment ceremony,
domestic partnership or civil union, etc., but  however
you refer to your union  I congratulate you because
whether it is between two men, two women or a man
and woman it symbolizes the love that is felt for each
other.
As an InterFaith Minister I recognize that love
and the right you have to proclaim it. I am honored to
be called "friend" by several gay couples in the
Greater Kansas City area, one of whose
Commitment ceremony I attended years ago. They
are still together, unlike many heterosexual couples I
know---some of whom I have married.
I am also honored to be known as "Grandma" to a
beautiful lesbian who had the courage to come out of
the closet a few years ago with the attitude "accept me
for who I am or not--that is your choice." Our
family is all heterosexual so it was, indeed, a
challenge for some to accept it but love won out, for
which I'm grateful.
Gay Marriage is not legal in Missouri or
Kansas-----neither are civil unions, domestic
partnerships, etc. And it saddens me that there is so
much hatred and violence from many groups who use
the Holy Bible as a platform for being against gay
unions for Christ was all about love.
With that in mind,  I would be honored to perform a
Commitment Ceremony for any gay/lesbian couple
who wishes it and promise each couple will be treated
with the respect and dignity they deserve.
